Press Release – September 4, 2020

Mobile Hotspot Funding Campaign

The Washington Noon Rotary is pleased to announce that we have exceeded our fund raising goal of $55,000 to support the purchase of Mobile Hotspots for the Beaufort County School District.  As of today we have received approximately $64,000 thanks to the generous donations of many local corporations, businesses, and individuals.

Our children are our greatest gift and promise to make our world a better place.  Our school district will be able to serve our children without making extraordinary budget adjustments for this unanticipated and unprecedented need.

This is a perfect example of one man’s idea to serve a need combining with the economic might of local businesses and generosity of so many.  Special recognition goes to Nick Sanders at the Hackney Restaurant in Washington whose idea it was, and Bob Douglas at the Noon Rotary, who worked together to push us to the finish line.

The funds will be presented to the District on September 15th at the district office.

I want to personally thank all who donated to this worthy cause despite trying and difficult times for us all.  The Washington Noon Rotary, with the support of our District Governor, is proud to have played a part in this effort.

Tom Pederson, President, Washington Noon Rotary.  Service above self.
